Daily Gold Adventure Tours

Alaska Gold Prospecting invites you to spend a day with us showing you the many different ways to prospect for gold in the 21st Century on one of our productive Alaskan gold claims. While on the creek, we will help you understand where and why gold is found in certain areas of the creek. Also we will teach you how hard the early miners of the 1886 Sunrise Gold Rush had it, while you are working the same ground they worked.

Since we have guests of all ages and abilities that means to give the best gold prospecting adventure we must have as many different types of ways to find gold with lots of guest-friendly equipment. We understand there will be guests that want to learn a little bit of everything and then there will be some who are more experienced and just want to run as much material as they can to find as much gold as possible.

After our consultation, guests decide what equipment they would like to use for the day, we will then show them how to set it up, run it and then break down for the day. Then the fun starts! We will then show them how to clean up the concentrates and carefully classify down and pan out the gold. At the end of the day, they will have their gold in a vial so that they can take it home with them.

To get started, please take a look at our field equipment page or call us to get our option on the best equipment for your group. Once you or your group has picked the way you would like to spend the day prospecting for gold prior to the day of your trip. In that packet that we send out will a map where to meet your guide at time we agree on. Once we meet up we will take you into our claim, while going in will show you all the stacked rocks from the gold rush.

At this point, we will show you how to set up the main piece of equipment and go through it step by step so you will understand how and why everything works together to capture the gold. Once you fill confident that you can take over we will step aside and let you go at your own pace. We will be close by in case you have any questions. Most groups work the prospecting equipment for about five hours, since you are working at your own speed then you can take a break anytime to eat or rest.

Depending on the gold prospecting equipment used that day, we usually start breaking down the big equipment so we can show you why and how to do fine gold recovery.

Things like the Gold Cube and classifiers and then down to a couple ways to use a gold pan and then at the end of the day, we show you how to use a snuffer bottle to collect your gold into a vial to take home.
